Arch. Andrea Pompili was the moderator of the panel organized by the Italian Embassy of Tokyo, Japan “Italia, Recycling. Design and and Circular Economy” during the VI Edition of the Italian Design Day in the world that took place at the Italian Institute of Culture and focused on design and new technologies for a sustainable future.

The event was a celebration of Italian design, expressed in multiple disciplines. The guests invited were representatives of different industries: Arch. Anteo Sanada, Partner of the Japanese International Architecture Office of Kengo Kuma (KKAA); Arch. Filippini, famous car designer and Pininfarina’s Design Director from 2011 to 2017, who consults on automotive design and design strategy in Tokyo; Dr. Formiconi, Chief Financial Officer of Diesel Japan and Professor of Fashion Business at Doshisha University in Kyoto; Architect Motoki Yoshio, reporting from Italy, lecturer at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin since 2006 and lecturer at the Istituto Design e Moda in Milan since 2019.

Italian Pavilion for 2020 Olympic Games

The interview was made during a visit to “Casa Italia”, the Italian Pavillion for 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Arch. Andrea Pompili was invited as Architect and Designer in Tokyo,  and in her interview she focused on the concept of the Pavillion Mirabilia, a promotion of Italian excellence, in sport but also in art, design, and lifestyle, with an analysis through the multiple pieces of design chosen to fulfill the experience of this iconic space, hosted at “The Kihinkan – Takanawa Manor House”, a building characterized by early 20th century Art Nouveau architecture.

“L’Italia è con Voi”, RAI Italia

Arch. Andrea Pompili was invited as an Architect and Designer in Tokyo to be interviewed for “L’Italia è con Voi” a channel by RAI Italia broadcast internationally.

In an analysis that goes from the urbanistic aspect of the city of Tokyo conceived as a patchwork of multiple expressions of architecture to the “urban voids” of the Japanese gardens through a cultural experience on a daily basis in the city of Tokyo, Arch. Andrea Pompili explains the multisciplinary background experiences that led her to the professional position in the Japanese international architecture office of Sou Fujimoto and Kengo Kuma together with artistic independent projects that she developed and created while in Tokyo.

Residence of the Swiss Ambassador

Arch. Andrea Pompili was the moderator of the panel organized the Swiss Embassy of Japan, for the installation “Kizuki-au Collaborative Constructions” made by the Gramazio Kohler research laboratory of ETH Zurich and the T_ADS Obuchi laboratory of the University of Tokyo during the 2022 Aichi Triennale.

The panel was moderated by guest speakers Prof. Yosuke Obuchi (UTokyo) and Arch. Hennes Mayer (ETH) in the Residence of the Swiss Ambassador, Tokyo, Japan.
